This Privacy Policy explains how Alinea, an Aleatrick app, handles information. Alinea is designed around a local-first principle: Private records stay on your device by default, while content you choose to publish or share uses cloud services.
Information stored on your device
Alinea may store Essays, Fragments, captions, tags, profile drafts, Collections, Walk routes, location labels, Photos, Sketches, Voice notes, Tone choices, translation cache, engagement state, safety controls, and pending sync work on your device.
Draft and Private records are not uploaded merely because you sign in. A future optional private-sync feature, if enabled by you, will be described separately before it uploads Private data.
Information used for public and shared features
When you choose Public, Followers only, or Link only visibility, Alinea may upload the information needed to provide that feature:
- Published text, title, excerpt, tags, language, visibility, and comment settings
- Public profile information such as display name, username, bio, avatar, and city label
- City-level or approximate location chosen during publish preview
- Public media variants such as resized Photos, Sketch images, thumbnails, or short Voice files
- Likes, Saves, Comments, Follows, share links, reports, blocks, mutes, and moderation state
- Membership and entitlement status needed to authorize paid cloud features
Link only content is excluded from Feed, Map Discovery, and City Archive but remains available to people who have an active link. Followers-only content requires an eligible signed-in viewer.
Location privacy
Location is sensitive. Alinea lets you hide location, show a city, or use an approximate public area. Private exact routes can remain on the device. Public discovery should not expose a precise home, workplace, or private movement trace.
Photos are re-encoded before public upload so original EXIF location metadata is not published as-is.
Photos, Sketches, and Voice
Private media remains local by default. Public media is prepared on the device before upload. Photos may be Tone-rendered, resized, compressed, and stripped of metadata; Sketches may be exported as images; and Voice notes are uploaded only when attached to a public or shared record.
Public media is stored in Cloudflare R2 and delivered through Cloudflare’s network. Alinea does not upload original full-resolution Photos by default and does not use media for advertising.
Accounts and authentication
Private records can be used without an Aleatrick account. Public participation uses Supabase Auth and may support Sign in with Apple, Google sign-in, or email sign-in. Authentication providers receive the information required by their own sign-in flow. Alinea stores session credentials in iOS Keychain.
Signing in does not make existing local records public.
Service providers
Alinea uses service providers only for the functions described here:
- Supabase for authentication, public metadata, visibility enforcement, public discovery, social actions, moderation records, and cloud functions
- Cloudflare for public media storage and delivery and for Aleatrick’s public website
- Apple for App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases, platform permissions, MapKit, and eligible on-device translation features
- Google only when you choose Google sign-in
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Membership
Purchases use Apple’s StoreKit. Alinea may send a signed StoreKit transaction to its backend to verify entitlement. This verification is used to authorize cloud-expensive features and is kept separate from Private journal content.
Translation
Translation is a reading aid. Original text is retained and translation is stored separately as cache. Initial iOS translation is designed to use Apple’s system translation capabilities where available rather than an external translation API.
Safety and moderation
Reports, blocks, mutes, hidden-content state, follower controls, and comment moderation may be stored to protect users and operate public features. Reports are not public and may be retained where needed to prevent abuse, meet legal obligations, or preserve service integrity.
Website, analytics, and advertising
Aleatrick’s public website is a static site. Alinea does not currently use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking and does not sell personal data. If analytics or crash reporting is added later, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before release.
Retention and deletion
You can delete local records, withdraw public content, revoke shared links, and request cloud-account deletion. Public media and public metadata are removed or invalidated as part of withdrawal where applicable. Some records may remain temporarily in backups, security logs, payment records, or moderation systems when required for fraud prevention, abuse handling, legal compliance, or recovery.

Children
Alinea is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum digital-consent age required in their region. Do not create an account if you are not legally able to consent to these terms and this policy.
Changes
This policy may change as Alinea’s public services, Membership, sync, or legal requirements change. The Last updated date will change when meaningful revisions are published.
